Mission

The DDA’s mission is to improve the economy of Augusta-Richmond County by coordinating an aggressive public/private program to promote redevelopment and growth in Downtown Augusta.

To accomplish its mission, the DDA:

Serves as a redevelopment agency on behalf of the City of Augusta

Acts as a public-interest developer for key downtown projects

Actively encourages redevelopment through adaptive-reuse and new-project construction

Offers financial incentives and assistance to encourage development

Develops requests for proposals and initiates plans to develop strategies for revitalization

Advises local government officials on downtown issues

Leads in coordinating sustainable strategies and actions for continued growth

Recommends and coordinates needed special purpose local option sales tax (SPLOST) public improvements in the downtown area

Serves as an information clearinghouse for downtown issues and needs

Informs the media and general public of downtown issues and activities
