Jane Ellis passed away October 19, 2021 unexpectedly after a short illness.

Jane began her career in commercial real estate in 2004 with Sherman & Hemstreet and played a pivotal role in the revitalization efforts of downtown Augusta. During her career, she represented major downtown property owners and served as a consultant to the City of Augusta.

During her 2 years of service on the DDA Board of Directors, she served as Secretary-Treasurer and Chair of the Economic Development Committee. She was a dedicated board member who never missed a meeting or an opportunity to roll up her sleeves and work diligently for the betterment of Downtown Augusta.

While Jane did not shy away from the public eye of board service, she loved to work quietly in the background. She was a great source of knowledge and her handprint is evident on our website. Many of the reports and analytics provided in in our resource section were authored by her.

Jane will be dearly missed by her fellow DDA board members, DDA staff and the entire downtown community.
